About

In the fall of 2015, the University of Michigan embarked upon a renewed commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

After a yearlong period of intense planning, 49 units across campus devised strategic goals and objectives to fulfill the vision set forth by Schlissel and the Board of Regents.

The process culminated in fall 2016 with the creation of a five-year diversity, equity and inclusion strategic plan; the appointment of Robert Sellers as the university’s inaugural Chief Diversity Officer; and the development of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which oversees the campuswide implementation of the unit plans.

In support of this mission, diversity.umich.edu provides transparency, timely updates, and a variety of resources for the university community and the public.
